IT Donations and Redeployment

Converge provides a range of services that support our customers’ donation and redeployment programs, offering a second life to IT equipment that may otherwise be discarded. Extending a product’s lifecycle not only promotes sustainability while reducing total cost of ownership, but contributes toward the basic tenets of waste reduction: reduce, re-use and recycle.

Donations

Many organizations engage in philanthropic activities in an effort to give back to the community. To support these charitable acts, Converge offers an array of services to make the donation of an organization’s IT equipment more effective with proper preparation, testing, sanitization and imaging of equipment through our ITAD processing facilities.

In addition, Converge is a member of the Microsoft Registered Refurbisher program. This innovative program allows Converge to install citizenship licenses on refurbished equipment, which can include: Microsoft® Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office Basic 2007 software on refurbished computers destined for charitable organizations such as educational institutions, nonprofits and low-income families.

Organizations donating IT equipment can be secure in the knowledge that they are giving truly useable IT equipment to deserving recipients and, at the same time, helping the environment by encouraging reuse.

Redeployment

Redeployment of IT equipment back into service within an organization is recommended for reducing overall IT expenditures, extending a product’s useful life and thus reducing the total cost of ownership. The Converge IT redeployment strategy includes:

• Reconciles software licenses
• Tests equipment and functionality
• Refurbishes equipment when necessary
• Ensures hard drive erasure to DoD standards  
• Reimage the operating system with a licensed copy of Windows XP
• Provides warehousing, logistics and shipping support to get the asset back into service where they are needed
