Supply chain logistics constraints at U.S. ports are not showing signs of improvement any time soon. Over 60 ships have been anchored off the coast of Southern California, the largest U.S. hub for trade. The number of ships waiting at the port isn’t the only problem; the time it takes for ships to unload their cargo is also extending considerably. In Long Beach, CA, it’s believed the congestion will continue through next summer, and in Savannah, GA, the problems could last until mid-2022, if not until the end of the year. As a result, shipping container prices are skyrocketing. The transportation and logistics industries have not been spared from the labor shortages either, as truck drivers and warehouse workers are limited.
