CHIPS Legislation Sparks States Scramble
In an effort to reshore chip production after the latest CHIPS legislation, states across the U.S. are scrambling to create incentive packages for chip manufacturers to move to their area. This is in response to President Biden’s recent implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act, signed in last year. Based on this act, the U.S. government will begin distributing over $50 billion USD.
States showing the most potential to house these manufacturers include Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, and Indiana. While the Midwest is not traditionally known for semiconductor manufacturing, they are looking to get in early on the next manufacturing boom, as this could be a very economically-advantageous endeavor.
